Would not recommend.
Kev carried out a full house removal for me. I booked a fully insured service & paid in-full on the day. 1 of Kev’s vans broke down before loading any items, he arranged for a replacement van, but did not get it insured (unbeknown to me at the time).
During the move, 6 items were damaged by Kev & 1 went missing. I showed 3 of the damaged items on the day to Kev (he said he would ‘sort these out’ and also said after I’d unpacked, that I should let him know if I noticed any other damage). After unpacking fully a week later, I sent an email detailing further damage noticed (including photos).
Kev’s insurance of course didn’t pay out to him for the items in the uninsured van, so he was advised he would have to pay for all repairs/replacements from his own pocket. He has been dragging his feet and I have had to constantly chase him for follow ups and responses. Kev also lied about when he had first contacted his insurance company. I’ve sent 40+ emails to Kev about compensation for repair/replacement.
It’s now nearly 5 months since the move & there is still no resolution. Kev has only just accepted responsibility/paid for 1 of the items in Nov. He’s refusing to take any responsibility at all for 5 of the items & he’s only accepting minimal/limited damage responsibility and repair on the biggest item (which he hasn’t paid anything for yet). I have only ever requested that he repair damage that he has caused (proven by photos I sent to him within 1 week the move), not previous damage already present on the antiques.
Having spoken with the Citizen’s Advice Bureau several times, I’ve been advised that I have taken all of the correct steps. They confirmed that I’m protected by the Consumer Rights Act 2015 & Kev needs to ‘mitigate all of my losses’. Legally, the service should have been what I paid for by contract (a fully insured removal), it should have been ‘carried out with due care & skill’ & the problems should have been ‘resolved in a reasonable time frame and without undue inconvenience to the consumer’. None of this has been the case. CAB also advised that it’s my Legal Right to seek damages for items that I noticed were damaged at a later date after the move (i.e. my email 29/7/17). CAB have now advised me to progress to the small claims court.
