Anyvan.com is an interesting concept: a delivery auction site that works in a similar way to ebay, but in reverse - you list the items that need to be moved, and where they need to go (in the UK or abroad), and delivery companies compete to bid down the price. If the company is already making the trip, it can fill its load, and you can save money and cut your carbon footprint. There are over 3500 companies signed up to the site, including many that can deal with fragile pieces, such as antiques.
