Home//AnyVan Property: Making a House a Home/Iconic TV homes we’d love to live in

Admit it – you’ve sat at home watching your favourite TV show and thought, “I’d love to live there”? We know we certainly have. TV has been home to some of the most iconic houses and flats, which in turn have been integral parts of the storyline.

We thought we’d pack up an imaginary removals van and imagine what it’d be like to move into some of TV’s most iconic homes.

Kicking off with a couple in London, where you can find the AnyVan HQ…

Only Fools and Horses

It doesn’t seem like almost twenty years ago that Only Fools and Horses graced our TVs with the final episode as you can find a rerun on at least one channel most days of the week!

Peckham, South London, where this flat is based has had quite the overhaul since the final recording of the show. In fact, it’s even been listed as one of the coolest neighbourhoods to live in on more than one occasion!

So, what would it cost you to live there now? Over £500,000 if you were in the market to buy! A hefty step to making Del Boy live out his dream of being a millionaire!

Peep Show

Less than 10 miles down the road from Peckham, you will find Croydon; the home of Mark and Jez in Peep Show. Another cult classic TV show that you will likely know references from even if you’ve never watched it.

Apollo House as it's known in the show, is actually named Zodiac Court and if you check it out on Google Maps, still has Mark's old Boiler, Jez's Golf and Hans' Van parked outside!

But, if you’re a huge fan, would you want to part with over £450,000 to live in their two-bed flat?

Sherlock Holmes

We all know that Sherlock Holmes is a fictional character, but 221b Baker Street is a very real location! Baker Street is in the heart of Marylebone, and it is named after the builder William Baker who designed the streets layout back in the 18th Century.

The address is now looked after by the Sherlock Holmes Museum and they received a fair amount of fan mail! So much so, that when the Abbey National Building Society owned the building they employed a full-time secretary to answer mail addressed to Mr Holmes.

Despite the address not being residential, it has been estimated to be worth almost £2mil if you would like to purchase it!

Heading over the pond now...

Friends

Ahh Friends, how we’d love to live with the gang! The trendy apartments, located opposite each other, in the Big Apple would be the perfect place to live with a group of friends don’t you think?

In your mind, you’re about to book yourself a man and van, and you’ve picked yourself a moving day, what could it possibly set you back?

Let’s put it this way it starts with R and ends with T. Yep, it’s been found that in real life Monica’s apartment could set you back a cool $8,000 a month (over £6,000, whilst Joey and Chandler’s less spacious apartment would be about $5,000 a month (over £3,000)!

At least we can dream, hey?!

Sex and the City

Fancy bagging yourself a bachelorette pad right in the heart of New York? Well, Carrie Bradshaw’s could have been yours for $750 a month in 1998. Sadly, with inflation and the sheer demand of living in such a sought after area, it would cost you around $21,000 a month today.

The open plan design would make the perfect abode for someone who prefers the intimacy of solo living, with enough room for both work and play.

If you are ever in the Big Apple and do decide to visit that famous staircase, please do be respectful as it's someone's home who have recently put up signs asking visitors to not trespass!

The Golden Girls

Over the space of seven years, The Golden Girls followed Southern belle, Blanche Devereaux, and her neighbourhood friends that lived in Miami, Florida, but the real house they used for the external shots is actually in Brentwood, California. It’s also been said that the set in which they filmed on was based a lot like the interiors of the same house, which came up for sale for the first time since being built in 1955, last year!

The Barry’s, who owned the house for over 60 years until they passed away, allowed the series to use the shot of the external for a small fee although they were reportedly not sitcom fans and didn’t watch the show! Pretty wild, huh?

But something that’s even wilder is the price tag that came with the sale; it went for $1 million over asking, at $4,000,260 (£3mil!).

What iconic TV home would you most like to live in?
