The removals team was interested to read new research which suggests that many people in the UK are being caught out by unexpected costs when moving house. A new survey by the Money Advice Service has found that 68 per ceent of British people said they were 'surprised' at how much it costs to physically move house, even after all the expense of buying a new property.
The average amount it costs t move house is £694, but the amount differs depending on your age. Movers over 55 spent, on average, £1,090 in comparison to those aged between 18 and 24 who spent £423, presumably due to the amount of items to be moved and the amount of heavy lifting that they needed help with.
Jane Symonds, head of service delivery for the Money Advice Service, said: "Our research highlights just how many house holders, renters and buyers underestimate the expense of moving day. It's important to be realistic about the costs which can rack up and catch you by surprise if you don't plan ahead."
We'd recommend using a delivery auction site like Anyvan.com when planning your move as you're guaranteed the best possible price available, and it makes finding a good company really easy!
